Here's a selection of original compositions for a variety of purposes. Music for corporate videos, promotional videos, plus some tracks I wrote simply because I love to compose and produce music!
You'll probably get a flavour of what I love to write - orchestral textures, melody, rich harmonies, but I love to create tracks with a groove too! One of the tracks here, Fishermen, was actually a submission to a competition to "re-imagine" a song.

Orchestral composition for a film scoring competition
This was my submission to the "Score The World" international film scoring competition in February 202. As usual, I received the animation video with dialogue and sound effects and then wrote and recorded the original music for the film. This was a great challenge, mainly as there is such a lot of tense "static action" - I wanted to write in such a way as to add to the feeling of despair and tension in this amazing (and Academy award-winning) film, without getting in the way of the pictures.

Results for this competition have just been announced and my entry was placed 12th out of more than 2,500 entries

This was my submission to the Spitfire Audio film scoring competition in August 2021. I received the animation video with dialogue and sound effects and then wrote and recorded the original music for the film. A great opportunity for some punchy percussion, epic themes and commercial application. I like to think it brought out the superhero in me!

This was my submission to the ScoreRelief 2021 film scoring competition in January 2021 run by The Cue Tube. I received the animation video with dialogue and sound effects and then wrote and recorded the original music for the film. This was great fun to write and who knows whether it will be successful in the competition?

Orchestral composition for a film scoring competition
Here's the soundtrack I wrote for another film scoring competition, this time from Abbey Road Studios. This is a short cue from this rather creepy, eerie film about a home nurse who isn't quite as caring as she seems!
Mixture of orchestral sounds with synth textures and sound design, all contributing to this sense that things are not going to end up ok!

Original composition for a short film cue
This is an original composition for an excerpt from a short film called Secrets Of Angels. It's very moody, misty, almost 'other-worldly' so the music matches with lots of airy synth pads and a solo cello to add some dramatic atmosphere. I've no idea what she's talking about so if you can figure it out please drop me an email and fill me in..!
TEARS OF STEEL
Original composition for a sci-fi film trailer
This is a cinematic trailer for a high-octane, sci-fi action film called Tears Of Steel. Pulsing synth basses, big drum kits, lots of explosions and impact hits..... with a church choir thrown in for good measure! Weapons ready!!

SIMON PARKIN - PAINTER
Original music for a short promotional film for a painter
This is a short film featuring the work of Simon Parkin, a painter based in the Derbyshire Peak District. There is raw, unsophisticated beauty in this piece which I have tried to match with a repeating piano riff and solo strings and winds.
